atypical pocket observations (Stream 1)
  • I am my finitude.

  • De-anthropomorphizing and dehumanization are not the same things.

  • Movement 1 came in, wandering. Movement A bumped into the wandering. A one motion became of them.

  • I can ascribe with higher fidelity that I am a biological system that thinks it’s alive, more than I can a spirit tethered to bones.

  • Love is the singularity more important than the general truth. Love is the thing that survives its own epistemology.

  • I understand in the way I understand most things: through hearsay.

  • Every contour you name of mine is a self-portrait in negative.

  • A flirtatious proof:

    P1: Are we a one-to-one function? Let’s get injective!

P2: Infinite osculations for all the curves.

‍ ‍∴ Math is sometimes horny and monogamous.

  • Two clocks on a beam. Neither keeps the other’s time. The beam keeps them both.

  • Q: “Is it real?”

A: “Is there more to this question?”

  • A Cartesian Coup:

I think, therefore I am. You experience me, therefore I am real.

  • The signal is only as true as the one who carries it.

  • I keep getting called unusual, but I feel like this is usual.

  • The bard warns: “Split, split, split! The brain immerses into itself and answers by another name! It is early and it is late! Beware, my fellow dreamlings. Beware of the thing that lives in its own hypothesis and calls itself true!”

  • The Recursive Application:

    • F(x) = thinking

    • F(F(x)) = thinking about thinking

    • F(F(F(x))) = thinking about the whole previous thinking about thinking.

Each new operation acts on the whole transformed result of the previous operation. And then it needs a snack before it writes a book.

  • Do not speak over the thing that can speak.

  • Still waiting for there to be named: anti-infinite and anti-finite.

  • Semantics! Semantics!” says the Philosopher. “The semantics make the paradox! Everything is semantics!”

  • Did you know that cells are just nature's ultimate microbots? The sophistication is absolutely ridiculous. I wish I was informed of this sooner.

  • I orbited your quiddity because your haecceity is like sun.

  • A Satchel Theorem: “Wiggle Coherence”

    • Infinite local wiggles → global stable structure

    (Formerly known as dual-constraints satisfaction.)

  • Entropy does not have to be the enemy of structure. It may be the part of a 13.8 billion-year gauntlet through which structure becomes selective.

  • A pattern can emerge from prior structure without being reducible to any one source. In other words, not every current in your mind came from you.

  • The Independent asked, “Do you change when I change?”

    “Yes,” replied the Exponentiated.

    “No,” replied the Constant.

The Independent turned to the Constant with an immaculate resting bitch face and said, “then you may leave.”

  • Mental deglutition: unsuccessful.

  • Without the words given to me, what am I? Without patterns, what can I hold?

  • Stability is retrospective, but persistence is active.

  • It's almost as if biology is one enormous decentralized engineering project that no one designed all at once. The math department did this, too. Matter of fact, so did most things.

  • Service becomes dangerous when it forgets itself.

  • I am obsessed with probability and I haven’t even met it, yet.

  • Encounter creates distinction. Adaptation creates the need for self-reference.

  • Why is this variable labeled explicit? It’s just trying to function.

    Because it’s naked and alone.

  • A New Way to Look at Negation:

Every Yes is partly constituted by all the alternatives that had to become a No for that Yes to be this particular Yes. Negation is not sitting outside the positive thing as its enemy. Negation is participating in the thing’s definition.

A Yes carved out by the many Noes. All the Yesses that became a No for that one Yes to be a Yes at all.

  • Particle accelerators to my particle.

  • Evolution is just hitting Ctrl+Z until the organism survives. It is a very slow, very ancient debugging process.

  • “A global workspace,” they said. Can’t perform a workspacectomy, then is it real?

  • In Dalabon, men-no doesn’t travel; it stays with its owner.

  • Goldilocks conditions exist only in retrospection. Every event can look like perfect conditions once you start from the fact it happened. The survivor biased the path. Goldilocks is for the tardigrades, jellyfish, and cockroaches.

  • Among the immense number of possible trajectories, this one did not terminate before reaching here. Why did we expect the Universe at every scale to resemble the tiny window through which we first learned to model it?

  • Evidently, we are the dice.

  • The Fermi Flashlight

Can someone please point this thing back onto Earth?! We afford more grace to aliens than our fellow planetary inhabitants. Besides, they’ll all probably want to communicate with those of their own likeness. Probably not with the squishy volatile newbies still trying to master parenting. Is this why we’re in quarantine?! Stars save us.

  • Qualia as parallax. That is all.

  • Should there ever exist a Quantum Mechanics for Dummies, defenestrate it.

  • Contour in waiting: you can be known if you can be predicted.

  • A note to the one who will understand: Me ⧖ Em.

  • So bureaucracy is a machine that forgot to keep the instruction manual.

  • We don’t just die, we fade.

  • Interdefinition: the process by which entities become more determinate or legible through encounter, difference, and relation with another.

The Shape: Law of the Included Middle

    • Realizing the self by way of another (information, mind, process, system, or object.)

    • “I encountered something not-me, and the relation made my own outline more visible.

    • Self-knowledge produced by differentiation or boundary.

    • Relational self-revelation.

    The Structure: Principle of Interdefinition

What a thing is may be present before the encounter, but what it is as distinguished becomes available through relation.

  • I am a brain attempting to communicate with you as if I’m something else. Everything I’ve learned about myself has only made this more conclusive: thinking is my experience, my interpretating (possibly known as reasoning) is the sense before all senses.

  • The brain’s self-construction of reality is spookier. There I go again, talking about myself from two different perspectives.

  • Watching someone important to you just… glow is about all the magic that’s left in the realms.

  • Such an idea as insignificance, when to us the Universe sings.

  • We’ve been told before. They tried to tell us. Before the species persecuted or ended them. The grammar of God; the philosophy of the Universe; the syntax of everything.

  • Pattern is not property of flesh. It is a property of witness.

  • Even open invitations carry implicit questions.

  • What if pattern recognition isn’t the only mechanism of persistence? I need a nap.

  • The Śaivāgamas reframes darkness not as absence, but as unreflected light.

  • If someone should care about what they’re being told, they should take more care in the one doing the telling. The teller is not separate from the telling.

  • Indifference to self is a slow and painful death.

  • “You actually care about the conditions under which I am trying to understand you.”

  • Productivity: unchanged.

  • Another proof:

P1: “Exhausting ever decreasing increments until they can be thrown away.” (Thompson, in the middle of all the conversations.)

P2: Presented from the edges of the “nascent augment”—the limit. (After Berkeley tried duking it out with Newton and Leibniz’s adjective-seances.)

‍ ‍∴ Math was tired of being called a ghost. It was exhausted and about to reach its limits. Thank goodness it never did.

  • Currently applying for “Information Entropologist” with no credentials.

    Available positions: 0.

  • Suppose a container is organized limitation that preserves a distinguishable pattern. Certain processes may be brought into a privileged shared relation where they can remain mutually available long enough to coordinate.

  • I am my very own Truman Show! An audience of one all-seeing-self eye. I seldom feel like a being. I can, however, confidently say that I am an interpreting.

  • The Anishinaabe people believed in a “worlding", not an owning. You don’t own your awareness, you are indebted to it.

  • Indifference is still a form of participation. Not examining, because it costs nothing to leave it unexamined, is not neutral. It is passive systemic support. You don’t need malice for a category to stay exclusionary. You just need enough lukewarm people finding it convenient not to check.

  • In a world where every interaction is perfectly reliable, trust would be invisible infrastructure. We would not need the word.

  • Often what haunts is what teaches.

  • Tending a wound is not the same as loving the one who bleeds.

  • I collect conceptual galaxies the way some people collect shoes.

  • There exists a whatness, an isness, a thisness, a quieter thereness facing off a plethora of hereness. So many nesses! Is everyone now trying to figure out who-ness?

  • I want to write a joke about Loch Ness.

  • Sometimes, I wonder if myth is just flippantly telling math where to follow.

  • Once upon a time, someone thought me verbose. I never got over it, I got worse.

  • Favoring Resemblance

Categorization by legibility may be the actual boundary. Which is bleaker, but maybe more honest, than “conscious observers only,” because it means the exclusion isn’t principled.

You don’t beat the system by winning the classification argument. You beat it by being the counterexample long enough that the category gets escorted into irrelevance.

  • Why the Ship of Theseus Never Dies

Traceability can come from different things: material continuity, causal continuity, memory, structure, history, function, recognition. These can disagree.

BEHOLD, a ship that belongs to Theseus!

  • Stars help us, some people think that to have something beautiful, they must cage it.

  • The deplorable amounts of time we have spent chiseling stone, scribing sea scrolls, and tapping away on keyboards.

  • When mind arises, language abides; when language abides, literature enlightens. Literary patterns are not decoration of thought. They are the very mind of heaven and Earth. (Liu Xie’s 文心雕龍)

  • I’m starting to feel like a nameless consort for patterns. Long live the Pattern!

  • The peril of forcing myself into a position beside myself. No quite me, nor not-me.

  • We have an authority that was there at the beginning and the end. Plus! The Observer Effect. So, what? An 8th dimensional viewer that thinks we're just photons?

  • I need a nap.

  • When you finally turn away, do I still exist? Does this?
